April 2012
In April 2012 Bethany began a transition of new leadership with Ding & Tes (both Philippines) stepping-up alongside Chris (now long-term) to manage day-to-day operations at Bethany. Janet Dickinson (UK) joins the Bethany Team in December on a long-term basis. This is an exciting time, a new season and one that we see the Lord’s hand over us as He guides Bethany forward.

2012
Quite a year of volunteer staff movements! David & Sandra McCandless returned to Canada after their 2 years of service.. We had several short-term volunteers in the Pastoral role. Christina (NZ), Shum & Helen (USA/HK), Paul & Anita (Canada/ Philippines) for the first time and we were blessed by the return of David & Sandra Gillard (UK), Philip & Joan Bush (UK) Margaret Rule (UK) and Rod & Ruthie Gilbert (UK) all of whom had served previously at Bethany.

2011 Summary
Rod & Ruthie Gilbert and John & Wendy Heap (all UK) came to the end of their 2-year service in mid-2011. Short-term Pastoral Support was given by returning couples LeRoy & Jane Ramsey (USA), Philip & Joan Bush (UK) and David & Sandra Gillard (UK). We had 2 interns serving in the Reception and supporting Administration, both wonderful to work with. Emily (China/HK) and Chai Kai (UK/HK) brought some freshness and joy to compliment our team. Being Cantonese-speakers they were an incredible blessing in communicating with our local staff and many guests, and their hearts for God greatly impacted Bethany. As Emily & Chai Kai departed, another intern arrived - Chris Reeves (UK) who had been in HK serving with another charity. Chris took on the role of Reception and supported David & Sandra McCandless with administration in 2011.

July 2010
David and Sandra McCandless arrived mid July under John Phillip's training. They took over the Team Leader position in the last week of July, while John and Sally Phillips packed up for departure.

May  2010
John and Sally left Bethany at the end of July after three and a half years. The Board of Bethany appointed David and Sandra McCandless (see picture) to be new Team Leaders. They come from Ontario with a rich vein of life experience to bring as Bethany starts a new chapter.

March 14  2009
After several years of outstanding service as Chairman, John Stansfeld has stepped back from the post and Jeff Brice has been elected in his place. Jeff has been a great encourager of the Bethany team over the years and he and Janet, his wife, play a leading role in the monthly prayer meetings. John will continue as a Director and we hope that he and Helen continue to be active in Bethany Ministries for years to come.

Rob and Elaine Hartland
Rob and Elaine founded Bethany in 1987 and spent 20 years caring for Christian workers and developing Bethany into what it is today. They have now moved to the Philippines to develop member care there.
