Bethany Ministries is always seeking committed staff to join the team. Anyone with relevant Pastoral or Administrative expertise who feels specifically called to this type of ministry should contact us. Accommodation is provided but they are voluntary posts and the applicant would be expected to provide their own support and travel costs. Applicants should be supported by their home church. Pastoral Care
Bethany receives nearly 2000 guests a year. We minister to them in 3 ways:

Comfortable accommodation, good food and surroundings
Pastoral and spiritual member-care
Counselling

A married couple are sought to be responsible for the second ministry

Keys elements are:

• Being available to guests as a listening ear and for prayer
• Providing creative and varied ways to minister to guests
• Conducting Sunday services on most Sundays
• Encouraging the spiritual life of the team
• Developing the prayer support for Bethany Ministries

As part of the Bethany team the couple will also:

• Share in the rotating duties - on-call at night and leading morning prayers
• Cover for other members of the team off-days, leave and sickness
• Exercise their own gifts and skills to the benefit of Bethany and its guests

The couple will be:

• Experienced in member care and/or pastoral counselling in cross cultural situations
• Keen to further develop their skills and knowledge in this area
• Experienced in prayer ministry
• Approachable
• Outgoing but discerning enough to reach those who are reticent
• Have computer and administration skills
• Have relevant Bible College training
• Be fit and healthy ( the only means of getting around the island is on foot)

Professional Counsellor
Bethany Ministries provides professional, Biblically based counselling for missionaries, church workers and others on a residential and non-residential basis through both agency and self-referrals. An additional counsellor is needed to help expand this work and to assist in developing links with referring agencies. Candidates must have achieved a Masters in counselling from an accredited institution and have had a minimum of 3 years counselling experience in a mission or other cross-cultural setting. Initially residential accomodation may not be available. A separate private practice might be possible.

Student Internship
Bethany is happy to offer Christian students the opportunity of internship with us. This will allow students the opportunity for hands on experience with a long established member care organisation.

The student will need to be pursuing a recognised course of study in a relevant discipline and be planning to be active in cross-cultural mission or member-care after graduation.

Interns will need to raise their own support to cover airfares and personal spending. Accommodation and meals are provided by Bethany.

Interacting with our guests gives a real insight into mission today and will help those who feel a call to mission themselves. It is particularly valuable for those who might be considering a role in administration or pastoral care. There are opportunities for interns to be involved in leading worship, outreach and small group work.
