Serving Those Who Serve

During your stay at Bethany you will meet some of our staff who are here to serve you. Our team includes people from several nationalities and backgrounds with a variety of skills and experiences. We have staff available to help you with practical, emotional and spiritual matters so please feel free to speak to one of us if you would like help.

Joan and Philip Joan and Philip Bush
Philip and Joan are Bethany's Pastoral Couple. Ably supported by his wife Joan, Philip has pastored two churches in the UK for 20 years and while between pastorates they served for two years in Senegal. Their children are spread around the world giving them a real understanding of cross cultural situations.
Ruth Morris
Ruth is Reception Manager and also our bookkeeper. She comes to us from Thailand having served with The Garden of Hope since 2005 and from her homeland of California, USA.
Sally and John Phillips

John and Sally Phillips
John and Sally are Operations Manager and Counsellor respectively.They joined Bethany in January 2007 after having been with Interserve since 1992, first in Nepal and then Mongolia.
Sarah Joy, Ding, Paul James and Tes
Ding and Tes Rumbaua are Bethany’s longest serving staff couple, joining Rob and Elaine in the early days of Bethany Cottage.
Ding can do just about anything when it comes to repairs and maintenance while Tes is well accomplished in supervising our domestic services. Their children Paul James and Sarah Joy who were born here, attend school in Hong Kong.

Nezzar Rumbaua
Nezzar assists Ding with repairs and maintenance and tending the gardens. His artistic skills are particularly noticeable in the garden.  Making regular trips to the pier for luggage and supplies, he may be the first person guests meet.

 

Our dedicated and friendly domestic staff all live on Cheung Chau working in the kitchen, serving at tables, preparing rooms for guests, doing laundry and generally helping to keep Bethany clean and tidy.

Sandy

Sandy comes in early to look after the breakfasts. She also keeps Bethany Cottage clean and tidy. 

 Cherry

Cherry does most of the cooking, for which she has a wide reputation.

Jenny makes sure Bethany Lodge stays clean
and tidy
